Adoption Awareness Heart

The Adoption Awareness heart was inspired by our 7 year old daughter, Emma. Her special needs could not be met in her orphanage. Too long was the wait. Her struggles stemmed in part from developmental delays brought on by the syndrome she suffers from, the frequent seizures, her heavy medication, but primarily from the huge hole in her heart from the missing love and care of a forever family. All children waiting to be adopted have these holes that make their life incomplete.

Even a few years ago Emma was just learning to hold a crayon. Her ability to fill in a simple image in a coloring book was sorely lacking. We wet pleased to see her focus on the paper for 2 minutes. Over time she has become more proficient at filling in the outlined shapes. I parallel she has begun to trust, seek connection, accept and even show affection. As the shapes on the paper become filled in, so does the hole in her heart.

You can Make a difference by becoming an adoption advocate to raise adoption awareness in your own way. Consider becoming an adoptive family. Make a donation to one of the many adoption advocacy organizations that promote adoption, fundraise for adoptions, or care for the needy orphans. A list of options can be found in the side bar at and other sites around the web.

Imagine the difference you could make. Make the difference in a way only you can.
